Location: Detroit, MI
Detroit’s Milliken State Park development, which seeks to re-engage the urban community with the river and natural environment, includes a dedicated wetlands demonstration area, where onlookers can observe the intricacies of nature’s own water filtration system. The instructional observation deck includes custom formed cable railing and architectural details such as metal panels cut with a natural cattail design and elaborate leaf patterned sunshades overtop to protect patrons from the elements. Extensive riverwalk railing was also part of this projects’ scope to coordinate in design and provide an important barrier between pedestrians and the Detroit River.
