In 2008, Michigan State University underwent a major roadway construction project along Farm Lane to separate the existing at-grade railroad crossing which regularly disrupted the flow of traffic and compromised access of emergency services.
In addition to giving the CN railway an overpass bridge with custom metal fencing, the project widened the roadway and provided increased separation of motorized vehicular and non-motorized pedestrian traffic to improve safety. The metal pedestrian railing, coordinated with the overpass’ metal fencing to create a unified campus aesthetic.
